On Time

  • Location:  Tokyo – Day 5
  • Walk:  Tokyo
  • Weather:  60-75°/ overcast, winds  10-20 mph

Conductors use an “iPad” type devise measuring time down to a fraction of a second enabling trains to leave the station at the exact time. Public transportation is on time. If you board a train 2 minutes early, it’s the wrong train.

Time measured to a hundredth of a second.
Visual checks assure people are clear of the train. At urban stations automatic platform doors closes to prevent people from boarding after the warning alarm is sounded.
Mask optional. White gloves mandatory.
Inside car. During rush hour people are packed like sardines.
