- Day 27
- Assisi
- 9 miles
- 55 – 75 degrees
The anniversary of Saint Frances’ death is a huge religious and civil affair. The historic district is filled with priests and nuns. Military guards are posted at every corner. I stood with the “common folk’ in front of the Basilica viewing the mass on a “Jumbo-Tron” screen while religious and civil heads of state filled the basilica.
When I was a little more religion, the Feast of St. Francis was always one of my favorite saints’ day. How wonderful to be in Assisi to celebrate it!

loved seeing you in the pictures. Miss you my friend. When are you coming to China. Dalian? It is great. Big giant mountains to climb right behind our two bedroom apartment and ocean only 1/2 mile away. We have a pool and weight room. Fun place. Now is the season to come. A bit later and it gets real cold. June is another good month. Love sent. It might be our last year…. we could meet in Beijing then travel together here to Dalian.
