I’ve been following this Frenchman for eight days. Any idea what I am always thinking? Grab the baguette and run for it! He starts each day with a fresh baguette and ends each day with no baguette.

Why don’t you buy some ham and cheese and then offer him some in exchange for some of his bread?

Your timing is perfect. Having arrived in the village where all but the butcher shop is closed, I have ham. Be it as it may, I strolled into him in town and he says his bread is eaten. He advises me in France always start the day with a fresh baguette. I can live by that creed. linda

He ended up giving us half the baguette. His dinner was provided by his Gîte. Our Gîte offered no dinner and none of the local cafés were open. linda

I thought his bread was already eaten and then he gave you half? How’s that possible?
