A 3,000 foot climb to the top of Temple #66 took slow and steady steps. It seems as though we were literally in the clouds as mist floated before our eyes. Hundreds large as life religious statues lined both sides of the street as o-henros paraded off to the next temple.
Too bad I exited the wrong way and had to climb the mountain twice…well, only 15-minute down and back up. The nicest elderly o-henro understood my problem as I realized I wasn’t going the right direction. With very limited English he let me know “go up.” He was spot-on. I don’t think I could have been so helpful had he approached me with the same problem.
