- Portuguese Camino: Day 19 / Porto to Vila Chã
- Distance: 16.6 miles / Total 260.6 miles
- Time: 8 hours 30 minutes
- Ascent: 400’ / Decent: 496
- Weather: 55- 72 degrees, sunny
Walking by the water I’m energized. Wooden beach boardwalks replace hard pavement. No brutally hot sun…no flys, no mosquitoes. This starts the Portugal’s Coastal Route.

It must feel great to be walking by the ocean now. Steady rain here but not hard nor high winds. I’ve thought about you as I’ve walked in the rain…and lots of other times, too!
Love! Jo

Thanks for the mental visits. A person from UK did the Ingles Way October 2019. It was his first introduction to the Camino. What he liked best was everyone more or less stayed together for the week’s walk based on the limited accommodations. That meant everyone you walked with arrived at Santiago the same day making it more emotional. Did your friends do it during Bill’s surgery?

I too think of you and know we share the same emotions about walking the Camino. Fortunately one day of light rain and one solid rainy day. Glad Charlottersville wasn’t hit with too much rain from the hurricane. Heading to the beach to attempt to put my feet in the ocean. ~linda

Yes, Janie and Pam finished the Camino Ingles as they planned. I think it was Janie’s 4th camino, her first since her Parkinson’s diagnosis. Thanks for asking💜
