Style preference.

Michelangelo or Matisse.

  • Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes, Sistine Chapel. MYTH DEBUNKED. Michelangelo did not paint lying down. He designed a curved scaffolding system allowing him to work standing.
  • Michelangelo’s Pieta, his only signed work completed at age 25-years old. St Peter’s Basilica
  • Matisse, Vatican Museum

For Whom the Bell Tolls ~ September 10, 2015

  • Thursday, September 10
  • Day 3
  • Rome

The Casa di Santa Brigida Convent bells toll inviting people to mass. Amusingly the striking of the bell is preceded by what sounds like the hee-haw of a donkey.   Just as amusingly my 3rd floor room is located beneath the bell tower.

  • Bell tower taken from Abby’s roof top garden
  • Bell tower above Abby’s chapel
  • Abby on Pizza Farnese with imposing recycled Roman bathtub fountain

Hen House to Breakfast Plate ~ Tuscany ~ July 10, 2014

July 10, 2014
Post-Camino
Monteriggioni

One of my favorite activities at Vieri’s home was checking for pigeon and hen eggs in their joint coup. Holding a warm egg taken from the bird’s nest is precious moment.

Vieri’s omelette with fresh squeezed Blood Orange Juice and a pot of Sarah’s Parisian Tea.
