Lugo’s Roman Wall is a UNESCO site. Erected in 3rd century AD, it forms a 2.2km loop around the Old Town. It’s 15-meters high with 85-stout towers.

With dampness always in the air, the aroma of wood smoke captured the attention. Smoke poured from the chimney of a small windowless building. From the doorway, a fire blazed. I stepped inside to find a lady feeding dried branches in the oven in preparation of baking bread.
