Church of Saint-Pierre-de-Bessejouls is one of the oldest churches on the Camino. The ground level floor has an elaborate gold 11th-century alter. Climbing a stairwell scarcely wider than my shoulders leads to the second level with a 9th-century alter. On the third floor was the bell. Try as I might, I could not find those steps.
