  • Weather: 45 – 70 degrees, wind 18 MPH, clear blue sky

The only dilemma of the day was deciding to back-track 1/2 mile downhill to begin at the official start of the Arles Route. Is there any question I would not begin at the beginning?

  • Arles – Les Alyscamps with church of Saint-Honorat, the traditional starting place for the pilgrimage
  • Towards Saint-Gilles – Blue shutters
  • Saint-Gilles – Bridge over Canal du Rhône


Tranquility ~ May 3, 2016

  • 42 – 72 degrees, 23mph winds, blue skies with clouds

Could there be a more tranquil place then the cloisters?  Perfect symmetry and proportions calm the senses. Whereas, cathedrals alert the senses.

  • 68 degrees, some clouds 25 mph winds ripping through Arles’ Roman Theater
